16mm Film Projectors

I used to have a Bell and Howell 2585. It was a solid projector.

But I've never used am Elmo or an Eiki. I'm wondering which is better.
I'm looking at this Elmo with Xenon arc lamp on ebay right now.

Any suggestions? Nigel? Anyone else?

The guy gives it a low review for some reason I can't understand at one point he says it is because the image is to big and to bright. That is pretty stupid logic.

The thing about 16mm projectors is that they don't have much use these days so you can get them cheaply. I use mine to project films I buy off eBay or at garage sales. Because I shoot Super16 there is no chance I will see my work on my own projector.

Jesus fucking christ, Nigel. What did you pay for that monster? Or was it a gift or something?

Come on bro, I'm talking simple little projectors here. Like the one in the link I provided. What is your opinion of that projector, or others like it?

One thing's for sure, I'm only looking at projectors with xenon lamps - not tungsten. As far as sound goes, I'm not sure as to what my needs are.

The truth is that it was free...I saved it from the Trash. A university was going to throw it away because they thought it was broken--With 200 hours on it I knew that they were idiots. So I loaded all 300 pounds of it into a truck and took her home. 99 cents later she was up and running. I used to have a pretty damn nice home theater but I have since moved. Right now I am looking at building up another. I plug, my home stereo into it and it sounds great.

As for smaller portable units--I don't know if I am going to be much help. It has been sooooooo long since I used a portable unit. I do know Eiki has a small Xenon table-top model. I can't remember its name but I have seen them on eBay.

I didn't buy it...

It was free. The thing was going to be scraped and I saved it. Complete with manuals and cordage.

Look at the price. Not too shaby.

Yeah they pop up every now and then for about that price. I know that they are still made and that the really do go for 18,000USD!!!!

The shipping alone would break the bank. The thing is heavy.
